Costa rocciosa dell'argentario toscana sud

Maremma Coast

The Maremma Coast stretches for over 150 km, offering an extraordinary variety of landscapes and beaches. Its crystal-clear waters, recognized among the cleanest in Italy, make this area an ideal destination for those seeking unspoiled seas and outdoor activities.

The coast meets every need:

  • Wide sandy and well-equipped beaches, perfect for families, such as those in the Gulf of Follonica, Marina di Grosseto, and Castiglione della Pescaia.
  • Wild coves and natural paradises, ideal for those who love tranquility, such as Cala di Forno (Maremma Regional Park) and Cala Violina (Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve).
  • Hidden inlets along Monte Argentario, perfect for SUP excursions, canoeing, or snorkeling in crystal-clear waters.

The Maremma Coast is a paradise for sports enthusiasts:

  • Water sports: kitesurfing, windsurfing, SUP, kayaking, sailing, and diving.
  • Hiking, horseback riding, or cycling excursions along the promontories and nature reserves, including Monte Argentario, an ancient island connected to the mainland by two tombolos; the Maremma Regional Park, with 9,000 hectares of unspoiled nature, free-roaming herds, and wildlife; the Bandite di Scarlino Nature Reserve, rich in oak forests and Mediterranean scrub; as well as various natural oases ideal for birdwatching.

The coast is home to numerous WWF reserves and wetlands, such as the Orbetello Lagoon, Lake Burano, and the Diaccia Botrona, where migratory birds can be observed in their natural habitat.

Just a few kilometers from the coast are charming villages such as Vetulonia, Roselle, Scarlino, Capalbio, Magliano in Toscana, Orbetello, and the city of Grosseto, the heart of Maremma, still surrounded by its historic walls.

From Grosseto, a network of cycling paths also begins, connecting the Maremma Park, the wild beach of Marina di Alberese, the village of Castiglione della Pescaia, and the ancient ruins of Roselle, an Etruscan and later Roman city.
